Direct Media Exchange is an exchange: everyone is welcome to participate.

With that, we have added another network to our family of nine internal ad networks. In addition to our current ones:

  • Rydium
  • Accelerator
  • Oridian
  • Directa Networks
  • Adtegrity
  • CPX Interactive
  • Bannerconnect Network
  • Active Response Group
  • Remix Media (Right Media Network)

…we have added a 10th: Vizi Direct.

Here’s a little bit about Vizi Direct:

Vizi Direct is the direct response arm of the premiere interactive advertising sales organization and works with all our publishers, big and small to ensure that all publishers have a constant stream of revenue, and that their entire inventory is properly monetized.

Vizi Direct provides a customer support team that works with publishers to assist them in producing as much revenue as possible. The publisher services team provides one-on-one service with all publishers from the start, regardless of their size. Our dedication to our publishers is unmatched.

We pay based on impressions, not “revenue” generated. Through our unique relationships with agencies and online advertisers we are able to bring targeted, relevant advertising to our network that has the highest effective CPMs in the industry. Our unique optimization plan helps both publishers and advertisers get the most out of their inventory.

Feel free to check their listing out under the ‘Link’ tab (second tab from the left in the Direct Media Exchange application), and also apply for a link to them.

We are excited to have Vizi onboard with us. It’s exciting to see our exchange grow, and we are all excited about the growth that’s soon to come. Welcome aboard, Vizi Direct!

Manage Away Your Chain Of Defaults

Many publishers choose to manage networks by creating a chain of defaults (1-2-3). “Defaults” from each network ensure that #1 in the chain delivers a high CPM and maintains control over frequency. #2 gets the second-best block of impressions. And so on. This creates a status quo, constrained marketplace that quality networks can find challenging to break into. These networks often have high CPM campaigns in need of fill, but limited access to premium visitor impressions. For these networks and their publishers, the ideal world is one limited only by auction bid price, not by a chain of defaults.

An exchange can remove these bottlenecks to growth, but only if publishers pursue better ways of controlling visitor ad impressions. (more…)

A Fast Way To Learn About 3rd Parties and Direct Media Exchange: Quick Tip Video 1

lukeVince_quicktip2.png transparent45x80.gifYou’ve been waiting patiently, and we’ve finally finished it. The first of our ‘Quick Tip’ series, this video should help you better understand how to set-up 3rd party network placements within our Direct Media Exchange platform.

By setting up a placement, you allow our internal networks to bid on impressions from ad networks and companies outside of our exchange. It’s a quick process to set-up, and you can see the revenue change over time, right before your eyes. It’s also one of the major things that drive revenue increases for our publishers (you can read about their revenue changes here — with a 25% increase in CPM — , and with eCPM’s doubling here and here and here). Using the ‘Manage Tab’ is great way to really determine if you’re getting paid what you should from your external ad partners.

Big thank goes to Luke Walsh, the analysis team, Head Grip Joe Matella, and everybody else for their contributions.

We’re planning on rolling out a number of new ‘Quick Tip’ videos over the coming months. Stay tuned for them.

And if you want to see it, watch for it. We’ll be rolling it out in the app in the near future.
Watch them, learn…and enjoy making more money!

Picture 28.pngtransparent45x80.gifYou’re a publisher. You’re on Direct Media Exchange. You want to be entertained and informed.

Well, we’ll be doing just that through our Publisher Seminar Series. We’re bringing in industry leaders and web mover-and-shakers whom you can listen to and learn from…and interact with (via WebEx)! Maybe they’ll share their secret strategies regarding web publishing, or maybe they’ll talk about new ways to make money from your sites.

Or how about ‘mini-retirement’? Or working only 4 hours a week!?

On Thursday, May 24th at 11:00 AM PDT, Timothy Ferriss, author of “The 4-Hour Workweek” (an Amazon.com, New York Times AND Wall Street Journal best-seller ) will take part in our first interactive discussion. (more…)

Today’s Small Business section of the NYT offers a solid lay of the land of digital advertising–its better-than-ever reach, accuracy, measurability, and the host of new players that are helping to drive it all. We’re one of the featured new players–Steve Lohr describes Right Media’s origins, some of its growing pains, the birth of the Right Media Exchange and how far it’s come.

The industry perspective is acute. The validation of our work, thrilling. The photo of me underneath the glow of the descending mothership, scary!
