Chills.

Snow, temperatures under 32 degrees…and running your hand over a cherry red Ferrari F40.

That’s how I’ll start off this post about our second day of video shooting in the Northwest of the United States. This was the second day of our NW Roadshow.

We met Steve Jenkins of CheatCodes.com today (he’s in the orange RMX Direct t-shirt, Cam’s in the black vest). He was our third ‘Featured Publisher’, and had been very active on the the RMX Direct forums from the very beginning.

In the world of web, Steve is a self-made man. He’s entrepreneurial, and successful at it. But he’s down-to-earth and humble, and came from a humble up-bringing: he’s worked hard to get where he is.

(And he’s also a very happy newlywed, too, I might add. Congratulations, Steve and Erin!)

And he’s fun. Here’s an example: he built his own surround-sound ‘viewing room’ with special seats that ’shake’ with the soundtrack of the current DVD being played–oh, and did I mention the art design is based on the Venetian in Las Vegas? It was something he just whipped up.

Steve was a great interviewee, but he also gets it: you make more money on your website’s impressions when competition plays a role. He elaborates further on this in the interview footage which will, among other places, appear on RMX Direct’s website in the future.

As the shoot wound down, Cam and him had a great time discussing “Manage Tab” strategy while Joe and I took final footage and broke down the sound stage. We thought we’d be done filming in about an hour or so, but it went a little longer than expected; Steve’s a treasure trove of business savvy, and one heck of a story teller.

Future successes to you, Steve–business-wise and life-wise. And thank you!

Final note: Steve checked the RMX Direct forums (about) a dozen times while we were there. What dedication! This is in light of the fact that he has other things he could be doing that are more fun…like driving…

R and R: Steve showed us his other love after we finished up: red cars made by a guy named Enzo Ferrari. Steve has been racing go-carts and ‘other’ things for a good, long time. See Cam’s pictures of the team checking out the cockpits of these Italian rockets here and here. My only regret was not jumping into the F40 myself; someone has to hold the camera, right. C’est la vie (Steve’s major in college: Computer Science, right? Try French!).

We took Steve and Erin all out to the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, tucked into a little corner of Issaquah, Washington. “Su Casa” was the name of the place? Home-made tortillas while you wait, sweet lime water, and ‘gordos’ : stellar recommendation, Steve ) .

The NW RMX Direct Video Roadshow is on the road for one more day, then it’s back to Eugene, Oregon. Currently, we’re chilling (literally) near Seattle, waiting out the snowstorm.

What will Thursday bring? Stay tuned…

(*blush*) This article make me seem a LOT cooler than I really am, but a great write-up nonetheless of a really great day! Thanks for stopping by and confirming what I already knew about RMX Direct: that you are committed to listening to your clients and take a personal stake in their success. It’s nice to feel supported in that way.

It was great to put some faces with some names, and Erin and I really appreciated you buying us lunch at one of our favorite little restaurants (shout out for “Su Casa” Mexican restaurant in Issaquah - owned by the lovely Annabelle, but who made us feel like WE owned the place with the excellent service we received).

Here’s wishing a happy and prosperous New Year to the entire RMX Direct Crew, and a safe journey home to Eugene.

Steve, you da man! Thanks for opening your world to us, and sharing your story.
And the ‘gordos’…wow! 3 cheers for Annabelle!
