Walls Fall: Cooperation over Competition

walls fall
Walls fall…and the neighbors are waiting to welcome you in!

It just makes sense. We can do a lot more when we come together, drop our fences, trust, and communicate transparently with each other.

Works the same with selling and buying online ads.

The Right Media Exchange is the first meeting place for Web publishers, advertisers and networks to get together and get the best, fairest pricing for their inventory. We’ve kept it quiet for the last two years, but now we’re blowing our horn. And people are getting it…here and here and…you get the picture.

RMX Direct has algorithms that deliver just the right ads for just the right amount of revenue (highest bidder) to the people who want it the most. Our software is making decisions like this 30,000 times a second.

Wow– that’s a ton of inventory exchanging hands.

And we’re a little different in that we don’t default ads. Someone, somewhere on the exchange will buy your inventory, so nothing gets defaulted. And the price is not decided behind closed doors–it’s out in the open to you. And it’s all because we believe in meeting you on the same playing field.

If you are curious to get on our beta list to check out RMX direct, send us email : DIRECT@rightmedia.com

Hear that? Another wall falling…

FAQ’s and Support

We spent a lot of time developing RMXD with our users in mind, and that’s why RMXD is full of in-product support - to give publishers the power to ‘’get ‘er done'’.

Towards the top left of every tab, you will see the words ‘’Analyze Help'’, ‘’Link Help'’ etc. for each respective tab. By clicking on the ‘’+'’ next to each heading, you will expand a box that contains a direct link to our support and FAQ’s (in the upper right of the expanded box).

Please, click me!

FAQ Pic.JPG
We strongly recommend that publishers look over the FAQ’s when they have questions, or even before they have one, in order to learn and grasp how each tab functions.

By submitting a question to support, we know what tab publishers are submitting from and we’re able to have a better handle on the situation. In turn, this cuts down response time and allows us to accurately diagnose/resolve problems.
In addition to FAQ’s and support, we also have a forum in the Community tab where we recommend discussing RMXD issues. However, we would like to avoid having the forum turn into a place for submitting support questions. If all else fails, at the bottom of every screen is a generic support link that can be used to submit questions, even from the Community pages.

And finally, the blog can be a great place to learn about RMXD problems and more because much of what we write about is aimed at clarifying confusion that we’re hearing from the user’s end. So…

Got a question? Expand the Help tab and check the FAQ first
Not in the FAQ? Contact support via the Help tab.

What can you do while waiting for support? See if someone is talking about it in the forums or if we’ve picked it up here, on our blog.

That New Kid’s Easy on the Eyes

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

I still remember entering the 6th grade at a junior high school that wasn’t the feeder school for my elementary school, so for the first time I was the new kid.

On day one, as I stood outside waiting for the doors to open, I realized that I was simply an individual being engulfed by well-established cliques of friends.

So, I sat there thinking, “if only I could find one person to talk to…

Fortunately, it took me about 15 minutes to get over my nerves, and soon, I saw a kid whose brother used to play sports with mine. We started talking a bit, and before I knew it there were about 5-6 other kids who knew him that had joined in our conversation. Because of them, I was also able to make even more friends as time went on… lather, rinse, repeat… and eventually I had friends from all kinds of cliques.

It’s funny how closely Right Media’s own history mirrors my first forays into middle school life.

Right Media was the new kid some 2 years ago, trying to find its place amongst ad networks that were essentially well-formed and closed cliques. As we began to share our transparent network beliefs, we found some people that spurned us, but most importantly we found folks that believed in what we’re about.

As we continue to grow, we gain more friends from all kinds of cliques who really understand that our core philosophy is truly rooted in - transparency and fairness.

We’re finding a way to become most everyone’s ally because the Exchange is a concept that all of us at Right Media believe in. When you believe strongly in anything, especially something that is out to change an establishment for the better, the end result is an incredibly powerful product with a solid following.

I guess one could say that we’re quickly becoming the Van Wilder…excuse me…Vanguards of the online ad industry.

The Tao Of RMX Direct

It was the end of the day Tuesday, and I had that eyes-glazed-over-7-PM look on my face: looking at the monitor too long at work, hungry for dinner (but still in front of the monitor)… then I stumbled upon this post on Digg.

I clicked and this was the article: Don’t settle for Google AdSense (featured on Productwiki.com’s blog).

Now, it had over 1000 diggs when I read it, so it must have been a compelling title for at least the following populations:

a) Adsense users who were happy with their service, but curious just the same
b) Adsense users who were not happy with their service (and, thus, very curious)
c) Ex-Adsense users
d) People who were just curious
e) People with a penchant for disliking Google (hey, a great company IMHO!)

So I skimmed it (who actually reads these days?) –the author proposed that Shopping.com’s ‘Merchant Listings’ posted a higher eCPM than Adsense did. Also, they attributed this to ‘relevancy’ and a number of other factors. Again, since you’ve got the glazed-over-eyes like me right now (and you’re feeling a little lazy to scroll back up), here’s the link again to that article: link.

OK, here’s my main point:

Darn it, can’t we all just work together instead of constantly flogging each other about pricing all the time?!

Change is Constant” says some wise person (whose name I can’t recall)…

Prices change from day-to-day, CPM’s and eCPM’s go up and down–we’re arguing about cents/yen/rupee here. But it is important to get your money’s worth.

You see with RMX Direct, you can traffic them both in.

Yes. RMX Direct allows you to have all your different ad networks (your private 3rd party deals) compete with our RM networks–with the highest bidder serving the ad. No arguments of ‘this person pays this blah blah’ blather–rather, just fun, healthy, free-market competition–made super efficient through Right Media’s technology.

So, next time you login to RMX Direct, go to the ‘Manage’ tab, type your 3rd party advertiser into the box (Adsense? Shopping.com?), click ‘Add Advertiser’, then set up an ‘Ad Placement’ for it.

Then, somewhere — in your heart or in your head — you’ll hear something…

“So, Grasshopper

“…what is the sound of two networks clapping?”

(hint: it’s also the sound of getting the best price for your inventory on RMX Direct…)

“I am not sure, Master–I guess that sound would be… ‘Kaching’…”
