The Tao Of RMX Direct

It was the end of the day Tuesday, and I had that eyes-glazed-over-7-PM look on my face: looking at the monitor too long at work, hungry for dinner (but still in front of the monitor)… then I stumbled upon this post on Digg.

I clicked and this was the article: Don’t settle for Google AdSense (featured on Productwiki.com’s blog).

Now, it had over 1000 diggs when I read it, so it must have been a compelling title for at least the following populations:

a) Adsense users who were happy with their service, but curious just the same
b) Adsense users who were not happy with their service (and, thus, very curious)
c) Ex-Adsense users
d) People who were just curious
e) People with a penchant for disliking Google (hey, a great company IMHO!)

So I skimmed it (who actually reads these days?) –the author proposed that Shopping.com’s ‘Merchant Listings’ posted a higher eCPM than Adsense did. Also, they attributed this to ‘relevancy’ and a number of other factors. Again, since you’ve got the glazed-over-eyes like me right now (and you’re feeling a little lazy to scroll back up), here’s the link again to that article: link.

OK, here’s my main point:

Darn it, can’t we all just work together instead of constantly flogging each other about pricing all the time?!

Change is Constant” says some wise person (whose name I can’t recall)…

Prices change from day-to-day, CPM’s and eCPM’s go up and down–we’re arguing about cents/yen/rupee here. But it is important to get your money’s worth.

You see with RMX Direct, you can traffic them both in.

Yes. RMX Direct allows you to have all your different ad networks (your private 3rd party deals) compete with our RM networks–with the highest bidder serving the ad. No arguments of ‘this person pays this blah blah’ blather–rather, just fun, healthy, free-market competition–made super efficient through Right Media’s technology.

So, next time you login to RMX Direct, go to the ‘Manage’ tab, type your 3rd party advertiser into the box (Adsense? Shopping.com?), click ‘Add Advertiser’, then set up an ‘Ad Placement’ for it.

Then, somewhere — in your heart or in your head — you’ll hear something…
