The Pull Between Simple and Complex

I was just perusing through some mind-maps (listed here at Chris Pirillo’s site) created from the presentations at Gnomedex that just happened out in Seattle. A mindmap of Blake Ross’s presentation/discussion was the first one on the zip file I downloaded. As you can guess, Firefox was the topic.

I’ve been a Firefox user for sometime now and I’ve been looking into making use of the extensions more recently–colored tabs and an Alexa rank toolbar were my first two. The first branch of the mindmap (actually the first comment from Blake’s audience) touched on how customizable Firefox has become through its extensions. Now, I’ve always assumed that I’ve been a late adopter as far as users of these ubiquitous extensions–then he pointed out that only 5% of users (the geeks) use them! That blew me away. I never thought I was a tech geek, just a computer user…

Which brings me to RMX Direct. Yield Manager, the parent technology that powers RMX Direct for Publishers, is powerful and very customizable. And it’s also pretty complex. In a way, you could say we are taking out the ‘extensions’ to make it easier for users to get in the seat and start driving (which is probably 95% of you).

Learning curves take time to climb. And a small to medium size publisher like yourself doesn’t always have a separate ‘tech team’ or $ to invest into doing that. We paired down the best parts to make it simple to use. But, there is still room in there to tweak it to maximize revenue.

Hey, we’re an ad management solution, not a browser. In the end, however, users are users: I just want to know how to turn it on and increase my numbers.

RMX Direct for Publishers let’s you do that. Simple.
